East and North Hert NHS trust based at the Lister hospital in Stevenage were delighted to be the first District general hospital to be up and running with Cytosponge as part of the DELTA project in December 2020. Led by consultant gastroenterologist Dr Danielle Morris and run by their research nurses and their nurse endoscopist they have already recruited 55 patients who would otherwise have been delayed due to COVID restrictions in gastroscopy. They look forward to providing a clinical service for their existing surveillance patients with Barrett’s oesophagus and newly referred patients with heartburn and reflux symptoms going forward as part of a new early diagnostic service.
